Hello, Audience Members!
We need YOU to make this happen and you have a very important role to play.
We wouldn’t have a Slam without you and when you buy your ticket or become a paid subscriber (monthly or annual), you’ll have some responsibilities in order to fulfill your role as a fully vested Wham! Bam! Thank You! Slam! audience member, because this is an interactive experience.
Every storyteller needs you in attendance to cheer them on and send a flurry of enthusiastic, but tacky and artless emojis flying around our Zoom screen.
We’ve decided after our first slam that we’ll keep the chat open so you can send messages to your friends, the ones you see in our virtual theater.
You can keep cameras on.
Our storytellers want to see your smiles, and laughter, your applause.
To unmute or not to unmute? That IS the question. We may experiment with it at the end of a story or two. There’s nothing sweeter than some wild applause. Then we’ll mute you again, because we don’t want to hear you washing dishes, yelling at your kids, or shushing your barking dogs.
What would a slam be without an audience? I’ll tell you. It would be a dress rehearsal in an empty arena. We don’t want that, ever, ever, ever.
FAQueeries:
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Great question! We have special pricing based on the Wage Gap Model. You’re not familiar with the WGM? Oh, you must be a guy, so now that makes sense. Let us enlighten you.
Employing this model is our way of pointing to unequal earning. Today, women make roughly 80 cents to a man’s dollar. In the 1960s and 70s it was 59 cents. By 1990, women were earning a whopping 72 cents to every dollar earned by men.
It’s gotten 8 cents better, and it only took 35 years, but we’re still not there and that’s not okay. The statistic I quote applies to white women, only. The gap is wider for women of color. That is DEFINITELY not okay.
Our pricing model for men: They’ll be charged 20% more than the price women pay to attend the live shows. We call it our SIRcharge.
But men WILL get the same pricing for annual or monthly paid subscriptions. Why? Because we’re awesome. It’s not your fault you were born male. Or is it?
Tickets for the slam if you’re not a paid subscriber: $12 for men. $10 for everyone else.
We’re not going to police you because we’re not the police, not ICE, not horrible people. We’re trusting you to do the next right thing…but if we get wind of you sneaking in on the discount, boys, we have the power to eject you from the space. Nan has a reputation and a trigger-happy finger. She loves the power of the “remove” button on Zoom. We’re working with her on her control issues. She’s doing better, but often needs reminders to chill and not take EVERYTHING so seriously. There’s also a $25 ticket option for anyone who’d like to chip in extra, to add to support the work. It’s a lot of work.
Paid Subscribers: For those of you who want to jump on board as paid subscribers, our monthly price is $10 (same as tickets, but you get access to all the archived posts for the month or months you’re active. The cost of an annual subscription is $100. You’ll be able to take it all in, every month for a year. 12 shows! If you decide you want to give live storytelling a try, you’ll get priority over non-subscribers…but for now, you have to have an active publication on the platform. That may change in the future. Who knows?
Matron of the Slam: It slides from $101 up to $1000. If you want to become a Matron of the Slam (men can do this, too, but you can only be a Matron here). As a Matron of the Slam, you’ll receive a ticket to every slam, and unfettered access to all of our post-slam recordings. Depending on the level of your contribution, there may even be a branded t-shirt or mug. Oh. And our massive gratitude for helping us make the slam happen.
We’d love to chat with you about ways you can support our venture into live storytelling with a feminist edge. If you have your own stack, your logo will be featured on our posts, and we’ll add a link to your stack. Join us. You’ll have a ball!

Hahahahaha. Well done. "sircharge" Ok, I'm a tiny bit confused. I don't want to add any more paid subscriptions--I already have too many! BUT, I do want to support you. So, is becoming a paid subscriber for a month the same as buying a ticket? When is the first show? Do I have to buy a monthly sub for *that* month to make sure I can see the show? I definitely want to be there for the first one...
